Lobotomy presents the
Sound Theories EP from
ilmli and
Habersham
Ilmli’s debut single,
All Dressed Up and Nowhere To Go, is Lobotomy’s latest slice of music theory, and with a dirty little remix from Habersham, this one will be bumpin’ your speakers in no time.
Known to you as half of
Ominous Cloud, organic house, broken beat and downtempo champions who, aside from achieving a signature sound which fuses electronics with jazz, soul and funk, you may have heard commercially on television shows such as Dirt and more.
Known to us as
Troy Stoner (yes really), who started playing trumpet in the sixth grade and decided he wanted music to be his life. His educational career continued with in depth training at an audio school. In the midst of his pursuit as a composer he entered and won both the
Sasha and
BT remix contests. As a result he co-remixed two tracks with
BT:
Kaskade’s Steppin Out and
Sarah McLachlan’s Dirty Little Secret.
And now Mr. ilmli has found himself as first place winner of Sound Theory 01: Habersham competition from
Resonant Vibes and
Lobotomy. He carefully deconstructed the sample pack to give us a heavy grooving breakbeat with warmth and analogue funk.
To round out the package
Habersham presents us with his theory on how to twist, re-twist and mangle sounds into what he calls his
’favorite remix in ages.’ It’s like getting kicked in the stomach with a thrompin’ Haberboot, only to find out there’s no way you can stop dancing. Experimental techno/tech-house is perhaps the only way, if any, to describe it.
