Toby D's love of music has always been a prominent part of his life, making compilation tapes from the age of six and being brought up on the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin etc and moving onto the indie scene of the early 90s.

However DJing is a relatively recent activity, but seemed to be the natural progression for him as his musical tastes broadened. Starting out in the local club Cafe Mamba in 2002, in Taunton Somerset, as a supporting DJ, playing 90's indie and funk and soul, his first gig was a complete success, and he was asked back for more! After about a year musically things changed, his friend had introduced him to Finger Lickin Thang II, an album which changed Toby's DJing style forever.

His interest in the breakbeat genre increased, as did his record collection. He soon picked up two residencies, Subsonic and Hijacker, Subsonic was completely breakbeat orientated, and therefore allowed Toby to let loose with his newfound genre. Hijacker was much more of an eclectic night and so Hendrix could be mixed in with a bit of DJ Shadow, and everyone was happy. Unfortunately both these nights came to a close, which meant it was time to move on.

Today Toby D is now a regular DJ on the worlds biggest online breaks radio station www.nuskoolbreaks.co.uk and has also joined forces with www.nubreaks.com. He has also just gained a new residency with Inferno, based in Burnham-On-Sea.
